From intimate installations
to large scale murals

Fred Penelle and Yannick Jacquet were two artists who had been pushing the boundaries of their collaborative research for years. In December 2019, they took on a new challenge: a large scale public art intervention in the form of an outdoor mural on a big building in Geneva. Standing at 50 meters high, this building provided the perfect canvas for Mécaniques Discursives.

As artists, Fred Penelle and Yannick Jacquet were constantly seeking new ways to explore and express their vision. With their public art intervention in Geneva, they took their work to a whole new level, literally and figuratively. The mural they created spanned the entire side of the 50 meter high building, inviting viewers to engage with the art on a grand scale.

But size wasn't the only thing that set this project apart. The mural was a combination of technical skill and artistic vision, blending elements of woodcut, digital animations, and projection mapping to create a one-of-a-kind piece. The public art intervention in Geneva was one of several outdoor projects that Fred Penelle and Yannick Jacquet had undertaken, each offering a unique opportunity to experience their work in a new setting and discover the intersection of art and technology in the public sphere.

In 2021, the artwork created in Geneva was adapted for a permanent version of of Mécaniques Discursives in the center of Brussels. This mural will be on display until 2026

Filmed with a drone for Lancy Lumières / Geneva in 2019, this video offered a glimpse into their creative process and the intersection of contemporary art and street art.
